WARNING ABOUT ATO SCAMS

Scams are designed to trick you into paying money or providing your personal information.

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) have advised that they don’t use social media, text messages or email to confirm your personal information including Tax File Numbers (TFN) and bank details.

The ATO will never:

  •  Threaten you with immediate arrest, jail or deportation
  •  Call demanding immediate payment of tax debt
  •  Ask for payments via vouchers including Google Play, iTunes or Bitcoin
  • Ask you to pay to release a refund

If you receive a suspicious email or text message do not:

  • Click any links
  • Open any attachments
  • Reply

You can report a scam by contacting the ATO.
