Langley McKimmie is seeking applicants for our internship program. 

As a successful applicant you will work closely with and be mentored by our experienced staff in the areas of:

  • Bookkeeping
  • Month end and year end reporting
  • Individual Taxation
  • Business Taxation
  • Recording keeping
  • Accounting software such as MYOB, Reckon and Xero
  • Office administration
  • Ad hoc tasks as required

Our business environment encourages input and ideas.  Ideally candidates will:

  • Be completing their 2nd or final year of an Accounting degree
  • Possess an enthusiastic, self starting approach to their work with high attention to detail, as well as a desire for continuous learning and skills development
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Have a good understanding of accounting processes
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Be a team player

Tenure of the internship is 3-4 days during Semester breaks and mutually agreed days during the Semester period if study allows.

Budget Night was 2 April 2019

Announcements made in the Federal Budget that could affect you and your family include:
  • Immediate tax relief for low and middle income earners of up to $1,080 for singles or $2,160 for dual income families to ease cost of living
  • Increasing instant asset write off to $30,000
  • Expanding access of instant asset write off to medium sized businesses with annual turnover less than $50 million
  • Target tax avoidance by multinationals
  • Medicare levy low income thresholds for singles, families, seniors and pensioners increased for the 2018-2019 year (see table below):

  • Vehicles acquired after 1 July 2019 by primary producers and tourism operators can apply for refund of luxury car tax up to $10,000
